GAME REPORT

France - Greece Coach & Player Quotes

Haralambos Papazoglou (Head Coach Greece):

The game was very hard for us. Playing against a team like France is always hard. I think we lost the game at the first half but we had chances to win also in second half. But 22 turnovers and 10 offensive rebounds really hurt us. Anyway we played the second half better than we expected. No:9 Maltsi was not good today. We are here to fight with the teams that are at the same level as us. Our goals are the Germany and Latvia games, we’ll try very hard to win these.

Vasileia Gkouzini (Greece):

I congratulate the French team. We expected that the game will be hard but we, basketball players always play to win. We tried to play better. Maltsi did not have a good day, that was bad luck. We could not concentrate all 40 minutes. France did not play well and we had the chance to win but we couldn’t. We have to concentrate on the next two games.

Alain Jardel (Head Coach France):

We played against a good team. The coach has done a good job for Greece in the last 2 years. I am glad that we got important statistics like 10 offensive rebounds and 22 turnovers for Greece. That means we defended well and we wanted the ball. Their shooting percentage was better than ours but we rebounded and ran the break very well. I believe that Greece will be in the quarter finals.

Elodie Godin (France):

We started the game better than yesterday. They never give up playing and fighting. After 10 points beat for us they fight and stayed in game. This win was very good to keep on tournament.
