In FIBA Europe Cup Men action this evening, the Bakken Bears hosted the Icelandic champs Keflavik SC in the deciding game of the Conference West qualifying round.
The Bears started off strong and took a 10-point lead after eight minutes of play. Søren Ege Hansen and Chris Christoffersen dominated the boards early on and "Big Chris" had a couple of spectacular dunks.
Playing before a near sellout crowd in Vejlby-Risskovhal, the visitors from Iceland fought back with a 14-0 run and took a four-point lead. Thanks to fantastic shooting, the Bears regained control of the game and were up by 12 at the half.
Bakken started the second half with an 8-2 run which proved to be the crushing blow. From this point on, the Icelandic champs were never able to recover and suffered a 104-90 loss.
Jeff Schiffner and Chris Christoffersen led the Bears with 22 and 21 points respectively. Magnus Gunnarsson led Keflavik with seven three pointers on 7-12 shooting, and finished with 27 points. American Anthony Glover also had a strong performance for the visitors, tallying 26 points.
