Czech side Mlekarna Kunin took a huge step towards the Conference Final Four with a comprehensive defeat against the visiting Bakken Bears.
Mlekarna Kunin proved to be a class above the Danish champions, Bakken, and after a close opening five minutes, seized control of the contest.
The home side led by 9 points at the end of the opening period and managed to increase their advantage to 20 by halftime. When Bakken's Jeffrey Schiffner fouled guard Ivan Tomeljak and was called for an additional technical, the ensuing 4 free throws seemed to end all hopes of an away win for Bakken.
Ironically, the setback seemd to spark Bakken and they improved their play in the third quarter. But it was too late and all they could do was to try to keep the gap as small as possible.
Mlekarna Kunin finished with a 26-point victory, leaving Bakken with a huge task in the return leg which will take place on 20th January.
Brian Howard finished as the top scorer for Mlekarna Kunin with 23 points.
Danish international Chris Christoffersen scored 20 for Bakken, who will be dissapointed with the fact that they could make just 11/28 free throws for the game.
