Lietuvos Telekomas 79 vs. Kozachka - Zalk 52
// 01 December 2004

Lietuvos Telekomas stepped on court tonight after one week of rest. Before the game, coach Algirdas Paulauskas feared that this rest might make some damage to the rhythm with which his team has won the three previous games. He was partially right.

The game started very nervously. Irena Baranuskaite opened the score with two and then both teams were stopped from scoring for three minutes.

Katie Douglas
Kozachka-Zalk was the first to break the deadlock and took a narrow advantage (3:2). Lietuvos Telekomas retook the lead a minute later, but could not hold it until the end of the first quarter.

Irena Baranauskaite picked up 3 personal fouls and had to sit on the bench. This imbalanced Lietuvos' game and Kozachka-Zalk took advantage and won first quarter 20:16.

Jurgita Streimikyte-Virbickiene and Katie Douglas were the ones to score the majority of points in Lietuvos telekomas’ 16:0 scoring run at the beginning of the second quarter. The home team took a 10 point lead and never looked back in the rest of the game. They extended their margin before the half time to 43:30.

Four minutes into the last period the locals' lead grew to an impressive 31 points (69:38). It was 73:43 in favour of the home team with three minutes until the end when the hostesses stopped and allowed the visitors to score 9 consecutive points which cut the difference.

Nevertheless, Katie Douglas was the one to score 3 points on the buzzer to nail Lietuvos telekomas’ 79:52 victory which brought the Lithunians back on top in Group A.

Quotes Lietuvos Telekomas vs. Kozachka - Zalk
// 01 December 2004

Yuriy Veligura (Coach Kozachka Zalk):

"We faced really tough defense tonight. This is the way teams do in Euroleague and we still have to adopt this style of game."

Algirdas Paulauskas (Coach Lietuvos Telekomas):

"We prevailed in defense, but had some problems with offense especially in the first quarter. Irena Baranauskaite’s fouls at the beginning caused us to change our game plan and I am happy that we did it successfully."
