GAME REPORT

Dynamo St. Petersburg 101 vs. CEZ Nymburk 93

Dynamo St. Petersburg began their FIBA Europe League play-off campaign Tuesday afternoon with a polished display against an injury-depleted CEZ Nymburk.

Ognjen Askrabic had 28 points for Dynamo
The Czech champions made the trip to Russia without starting center Jiri Zidek and were never given a look in by the host side, who extended their record in the FIBA Europe League to 15-0.

Dynamo opened the game with a 12-0 run and it was clear that Nymburk were facing a considerable challenge. They finally got on the scoresheet at the halfway point of the first quarter, but would never really threaten Dynamo's lead.

The Russians easily maintained their advantage for the entire 40 minutes, shooting 64% from the field. The lead was such that David Blatt was able to give some valuable playing time to his young players Mate Milisa, Vladimir Chevel and Igor Krotenkov.

Ognjen Askrabic was the top player for Dynamo. He finished with 28 points on 13/17 shooting, while Kelly McCarty added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Ashante Johnson was a lone bright spot for Nymburk, and he tallied 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Game 2 will be played in Nymburk on February, 25th.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Dynamo vs. CEZ Nymburk

Kestutis Kemzura, Dynamo St. Petersburg Assistant Coach:

“We're very happy with this win. The opponent wasn't easy at all as they have beaten UNICS and Kyiv in Group A earlier and despite Zidek's absence they are a dangerous side.

We were a bit worried about this game as we played CSKA Moscow last Saturday and Andrey Ivanov, for example, was out of training for a couple of days. Cota was also slightly injured but still played well. We're happy and proud of our players' performance."

Askrabic, McCarty and Veremeenko played really well tonight. and Chevel, Krotenkov who got some playing time later on, also helped a lot."

We're also grateful to our fans who came out tonight and supported us."
