Turkish side Fenerbahçe saw off a determined Hapoel Tel Aviv in the first of their three game FIBA Europe League play-off series on Tuesday night.
Fenerbahçe finally shook off the visitors in the final period with a 10-1 run to close the game.
Although the home side had their noses in front for most of the game, Hapoel were always within striking distance and Fenerbahçe's lead was never safe.
Hapoel's most dangerous run came in the fourth quarter. Facing an 11-point deficit (61-50) going into the last period, Hapoel's Sam Udrih nailed 8 points which saw his side close to 73-70.
But it was then that Fenerbahçe put away Hapoel for good. Marc Salyers scored 9 points in the quarter, including a critical three-pointer which saw Fenerbahçe close the game with a win.
Salyers produced his best game of the season for Fenerbahçe, finishing the contest with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Fellow import and new signing Trevor Harvey also proved his worth and he contributed 20 points and 8 rebounds.
