Dexia Mons-Hainaut 77 vs. BC Khimki 91

After a win in Amsterdam last week, Dexia Mons-Hainaut returned home to take on BC Khimki in a Group C match-up of the FIBA Europe League. The Belgian team jumped out to a quick 14-7 lead after five minutes. However strong play by Oscar Torres helped to bring the guests within one point after the first quarter.

At the start of the second quarter Roberto Bergersen came out and hit three unanswered shots at which point the Russian head coach signaled for a timeout. The Belgians closed out the half ahead 44-31 due to a complete domination on the boards (20-14).

The match thus far was punctuated by excellent offensive moves by the home team, which were always answered with three-pointers by Melvin Booker and Vasily Karasev.

At the start of the second half, Bergersen picked up a quick fourth foul and was forced to the bench. At this point the Russian team went on a 7-0 run which brought them back to within six points.

Dexia started the fourth quarter with a 64-58 lead. Unfortunately though, Papi Trugeman's inexperience showed and Khimki capitalized on his mistakes to take a two-point lead. Booker continued with his excellent outside shooting for Khimki and Dexia only managed two baskets in the final five minutes of play, giving the visitors a 91-77 victory.

The MVP of the game was Melvin Booker who finished with 21 points and six assists. Raimonds Vaikulis was the top scorer for Dexia Mons-Hainaut with 17 points.
