Tonight's game between BC Khimki and Strasbourg featured two teams looking for a win after suffering losses in national competition.
Strasbourg lost their second domestic league game of the season to Hyeres Toulon, while Khimki faltered against Dynamo Moscow.
From the start of the game the Russian team showed they were focused and ready to play. Oscar Torres led the way for the home team, but his efforts were matched by those of Strasbourg's Sharif Fajardo.
However when Torres went out in the second quarter for a break, Fajardo was shutdown offensively by Vladimir Vuksanovic and Alexander Petrenko. BC Khimki went into the locker room at the half with a comfortable 45:32 lead.
In the fourth quarter the coaching staff of BC Khimki was able to find a solution to the French team's defense, and as a result the Russian team drained eight three-pointers. In the end the home team won convincingly 86:66.
The MVP of the game was Melvin Booker who had a team high 16 points (4/5 three-pointers) and 3 assists.
Sergey Elevich, Head Coach of BC Khimki:
"Our opponent’s mixed defense was a surprise for us. But when we found out how to split it, we managed to win. We beat one of the leaders in the French league. This was good for our team spirit after a very disappointing defeat in Israel."
