GAME REPORT

RBC Verviers-Pepinster 92 vs. SAOS JDA Dijon 90

RBC Verviers-Pepinster hosted SAOS JDA Dijon this evening in Group B of the FIBA Europe League. In what proved to be a nail-biter of a game in the end, Verviers-Pepinster came out on top 92-90.

Pepinster started the game confidently and were able to dominate inside with strong play by "Kings of the Paint" Marcus Douthit and Nedzad Sinanovic. Dijon however carried on with steady play to find themselves down by only four at the half.

At the start of the third quarter, Dijon turned their game up a notch and went on a 16-0 run that silenced the crowd. The visitors however were unable to maintain this level of basketball and the home team clawed back to take the lead with only 58 seconds remaining in the game.

With under a minute to go four of Dijon's five starters fouled out and Sinanovic hit two key free-throws to give the home team a 92-90 win.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes RBC Verviers-Pepinster vs. SAOS JDA Dijon

Nicolas Faure, Head Coach of SAOS JDA Dijon

"No reproaches to my players. We did what we could with our actual possibilities. We couldn’t hold on when most of my major players fouled out. Our defense was effective but we didn’t get what we deserved."

Charly Mandic, Player for Dijon

"First I would like to congratulate the home team. It’s very difficult to win when the referees are against you. They had really strange calls. The game was far from being aggressive and yet so many faults were called. I really think we should have won that game."

Eddy Casteels, Head Coach of RBC Verviers-Pepinster

"We came back from nowhere. We had a very bad start in the second half. It’s an important result because we won against the second placed team in our group. I’m satisfied with the team job."

Wim Van de Keere, Player for RBC Verviers-Pepinster

"At one point I felt that we would lose the game. I’m very satisfied with the win. It’s positive for the team."
