Finland’s women are still looking for their first victory in the Euro 2005 qualifying campaign after a 63-60 defeat to Poland in their third match.
The Poles were 61-60 up with 10 seconds remaining but Elzbieta Trzesniewska took full advantage of a Finnish foul and sunk both free throws to give her team a three-point winning margin.
Just as in their 76-73 defeat to Bulgaria in the opening match last week, the Finns led at half-time but were outscored in the second half, much to the frustration of head coach Risto Piipari.

“It included skill and sureness. Then everything became harder,” he added, in reference to how his team scored only six points in 10 minutes in the third quarter.
Another disappointment for the Finns was that they managed only seven of 14 free throws and suffered 20 ball-losses.
Finland’s next match is against Bulgaria on Saturday.
