Throughout the entire first period it was a close game, with excellent defence by Dexia Namur and good performances by Sara Giauro and Krystyna Szymanska-Lara.
Things didn't really change in the second quarter. La Spezia continued to struggle offensively, mainly because of Dexia Namur's defence. Key players for Dexia during that phase of the game were Oksana Agabalova (16 points, 9 rebounds) and Marie Caers (14 points).
The first half closed with a 36-31 lead for La Spezia.
