Tamika Whitmore: Football or Basketball?

A critical moment passed for Porto Mirabello La Spezia, who fought hard to the end with Cajacanarias to take the victory.

The guests had a very good start and led by 8 points after only 2 minutes. But La Spezia pulled back to level the score after overcoming some difficulties.

Las Palmas kept pushing and increased the score to 16-20 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second period many both teams couldn`t find their touch and missed many shots.

Mirabello reacted well to their guests' turnovers and got a little in front (39-37) at the end of the first half.

In the second half the home team had the advantage (54-50) and succeeded to keep the lead until the very close finish (68-67). For Las Palmas Tamika Withmore showed excellent form, but even her 31 points were not enough for success for the Spanish team.

MVP of the game: Tamika Withmore (Cajacanarias) with 31 points and 9 rebounds

COACH QUOTES

Quotes La Spezia - Cajacanarias

Manrico Vaiani, Head Coach, La Spezia:

"I thought the match would be difficult, but our team faced the antagonist with athletic spirit. Las Palamas looked very solid and well built with a great Withmore over all."
