GAME REPORT

MAV Coop 65 Technological University 45

Both sides fought well in the first period, but showed dreadful shot selection and even missed layups.

The home team was playing without Kristina Papp and Gina Farmer, who were out with a shoulder injury and a cold. But Szolnok woke up for the last 2 minutes of the quarter, going on a 7-0 scoring run.

After this, none of the sides could significantly improve its offense, but the hosts just showed better defense. Milka Bjelica was the best of the first half, gathering 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The guests could never reduce the home lead, despite frequent substitutions
and coaching tips.

Szolnok kept up its tough and effective defense for the second half and succeeded in keeping the Russians away from the basket. As a result, Kazan never got any good looks at the rim.

Throughout the second half the game lacked any real excitement. Szolnok continously increased their lead, which grew to 20 points in the end.

MVP of the game: Milka Bjelica (Szolnok), with 16 points and 17 rebounds

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Szolnok - T.U. Kazan

Péter Tapodi, Head Coach, MAV Coop:

"Our unusual team structure confused our opponents, sometimes
even ourselves. However, our defense worked well again."

Valerij Kovalev, Head Coach, Technological University:

"Our hosts played very good defense and we could find no solution to crack it. Even our key players showed poor performances."
