GAME REPORTDynamo Moscow closed out their series with Telindus Oostende after a hard fought victory in Belgium.
Dynamo won the first game easily in Moscow, but Oostende refused to capitulate so easily at home, making the visitors earn their win.
Oostende’s intentions were clear from the start and the Belgians quickly led 7:0, before Dynamo reacted. A couple of 3-pointers from Damir Mrsic settled Dynamo’s nerves, but it was Oostende that lead after the first quarter, 16:13.
Dynamo coach Zwi Sherf looked to his bench in the second quarter and they delivered. Led by veteran Andrei Fetissov, Dyamo gained control of the game and the lead. A last second 3-pointer from Nikos Ekonomou gave Dynamo a 34:37 at the halftime break. Oostende were still far from admitting defeat and a 13:4 run in the 3rd period brought them back into the contest. They led 51:44 before Dynamo once again came back, cutting the score to 53:51 going into the fourth.
It was in the final period where Dynamo’s experience told. While the Russian team improved their shooting, Oostende succumbed to nerves. Although the game remained close, Dynamo, and in particular Mrsic, stayed calm and finished with the win.

COACH QUOTESTelindus Oostende, Head Coach, Eddie Casteels:
"If your'e into sports you want to fight to the end and we have tried hard today to go back to Moscow next Wednesday to play the decisive game. This group has still a big growing margin and I am sure that in one moth we will be stronger."
Dynamo Moscow, Head Coach, Zwi Sherf:
Oostende played a lot better than the first game. Oostende had put a lot of attention to our offensive movement. We adjusted well to this and especially our bench players did a great job at the end of the third quarter and in the fourth quarter. We were still missing one of our key players (Kenyon Jones) and are excited to have him back soon."
Christoph Beghin, Telindus Oostende:
"It is dissapointing to lose this game after having created some opportunities to make a decisve gap. The difference was in the details where we missed some important free throws and shots." |
