There were no surprises in Novi Sad, as the 2nd placed team in Group D Vojvodina defeated bottom side Tallin Kalev.

Vojvodina coach Nikola Lazic obviously felt confident of victory and he rested star player Milan Gurovic for the entire game. His confidence seemed to be rewarded as his side opened the contest with a 9:0 run.

The home team finished the first 10 minutes 26:16 ahead and well in control.

The lead ballooned to 16 points in the 2nd quarter, but the Estonians were not ready to simply roll over and they fought back. A great effort from Tallinn saw them roar back into contention and at halftime they trailed by only 1 point, 42:41.

Despite the comeback, Gurovic remained on the bench and Coach Lazic’s trust in the rest of his players proved wise. Vojvodina’s depth and experience was simply too much for Tallinn and their 29 3rd quarter points put them fully back in charge for the remainder of the game.

It was a balanced scoring effort for Vojvodina. 5 players hit for double figures, led by 19 points from Nenad Canak.

Point guard Troy Coleman top scored for Tallinn with 14 points, but shot just 1/6 three-pointers.
