GAME REPORTThe visitors from Nancy handed Kalev Tallinn another big loss by dominating the second half. Kalev has lost all four FIBA Europe League games by an average margin of 27 points. Tonight the French team outscored their opponents by 33 (54-87).
None could have predicted such a disaster after the first half. Although JoJo Garcia gave Nancy a 16-8 lead in five minutes, the home team managed to stay in contact until halftime buzzer.
Led by Garcia, Nancy led 40-28 in the middle of the second quarter, but a 6-0 run by Kalev helped the home team finish the first half with a score of 34-40.

Trapped: Tallinn's Troy Coleman doesn't find a way to score against Nancy's defense
|
|
| Two free throws from Priit Ilver made it 36-40 in the beginning of the second half, but that was it. Nancy went on a 25-6 spurt during the next ten minutes leaving no doubt about the final outcome. Former NBA player Randolph Childress scored 11 of his 22 points during the run and was selected the MVP of the game afterwards.
Garcia added 21 points and 9 rebounds for Nancy, both Fred Vinson and Vincent Masingue scored 11 points. Gregor Arbet and Troy Coleman led Kalev with 14 points apiece.
Game-MVP: Randolph Childress

COACH QUOTESSylvain Lautie, Head Coach SLUC Nancy:
“In the first half we made too many turnovers and gave up offensive rebounds. We made too many little stupid mistakes. We knew we were physically stronger and in the second half that was the difference."
Maurice Beyina, SLUC Nancy:
"It took us some time, to find our game. We know Kalev is a good outside team so we tried to play under the basket a lot."
Andres Sober, Head Coach Kalev Tallinn:
"We could have led by ten points at halftime, but we missed too many easy shots. We can beat a team like Nancy one or two times out of ten. Tonight was not the time."
Priit Ilver, Kalev Tallinn:
"We held up in the first half, but didn't have the power in the second." |
