Estonian gunman killed Russian powerhouse Perm with 30 points all scored on three-pointers (10 of 14) but got big help from Center Chris Ensminger who had a huge game with 17 points and 15 rebounds, too.
Estonian sharp shooter Kullamae sparked the second quarter with five three-pointers in a row for Bamberg to withstand the successful running game of Perm mainly finished by experienced forward Daineko.
The 14th minute provided a big shock for the German team when their American star player, former NBA-pro Jason Sasser left the game with a very bad looking ankle injury and never came back on the court.
The first half ended tied with 37-37. Ural Great closed the gap because of courageous play by European champion Lavrinovic who came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 6 boards while Bamberg relied on 15 points from Kullamae.
After the break Bamberg took the lead with 57-46 thanks to their Baltic duo Helmanis and Kullamae, the latter hit the Russian basket with his 8th shot from downtown. But Perm were on their way back into the competition with their excellent passing game and a turnover forcing defense to cut the lead down to four.
Both teams missed injured starting players for the game, Bamberg guard Rick Stafford and Perm forward Ruslan Avleev.
