Skonto continue to struggle with their shooting in the FIBA Europe League. The Latvian side currently lie in 28th place in 3-point shooting percentage (27.9%) and 29th place in 2-point shooting percentage (44.2%).
It was the same story tonight in front of 3,000 fans in Kiev, as Skonto scored just 16 points in the first 19 minutes in their 67:75 loss to BC Kyiv.
They managed a total of 28 in the first half, but by that stage home side Kyiv already had 38 points and were in control of the game.
Skonto cut the lead to 4-points in the 3rd quarter, but Ukrainian national team duo Andriy Lebedyev and Stanislav Balashov stepped up for Kyiv, increasing the lead to 14 points at 65:51.
Sergiy Przheorsky was named MVP of the game. He had 18 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, which sees Skonto fall to a 1-5 record, Andris Biedrins continues to be a bright spark for the club. The 17-year old center has literally exploded onto the European basketball scene this season. He played all 40 minutes last night and led all scorers and rebounders with 23 and 14. He also added 4 blocked shots. |
