Dexia Mons-Hainaut scored a victory in their FIBA Europe League opener over an understrength Paris Basket Racing side.

Paris have struggled in the French League where they have yet to win a game, and against Dexia they were without William Phillips and Laurent Sciarra.

Strong perimeter defense from Dexia guard Meindert Verstraete in the last minutes of the first quarter helped the Belgians spark a 8-0 run, and they took a 24-16 lead into the first break.

Dexia continued the trend into the second quarter behind strong play from Bryan Christiansen and they stretched the lead to 16 points, 32:16.

Paris' attempts to get back into the game came primarily from the three-point line, but the game was out of reach and Dexia held on to win 79-67.

Bryan Christiansen was selected as MVP. The American small foward finished the game with 16 points and 3 steals. George Evans added 22 points on 9/11 shooting

The top marksman for Paris was George Reese with 15 points.
