BC Khimki 79 KK Hemofarm 72

Russian side BC Khimki moved into second place in Group B of the FIBA Europe League after their 79:72 win over KK Hemofarm Vrsac from Serbia and Montenegro.

The two sides each carried a 2-1 record into the contest, after both fell to Anwil Wloclawek.

The home team, playing in front of 1,500 spectators, came out firing, hitting 4 consecutive 3-pointers. Nonetheless, Hemofarm were not rattled and the game stayed close all the way until halftime.

Khimki opened the game up in the 3rd quarter. Strong defense led to 4 steals and they established a 9-point lead, 59:48.

Hemofarm countered with tough defense of their own and a 4th quarter full court press allowed them to cut the lead. However, despite outscoring the Russians 22:18 in the 4th, it was not enough and Khimki held on to win the game.

Center Mikhail Soloviev was elected game MVP for his 23 points (8/11 shooting) 5 rebound performance.

Hemofarm center Petar Popovic was their top performer, contributing 23 points and 11 rebounds in a losing cause.
