2000 spectators at a weekly game in the "Halles de Jemappes". Good news not only for Belgium but also European basketball! Unfortunately Dexia could not come up with a win for the home fans.

The first quarter was very close, after a 0-7 run or Peristeri 3 minutes away from the whistle. Mons hauled themselves back into the contest thansk to their American trio - George Evans, Jim Potter and Bryan Christiansen- and finally ended the quarter down 2-points, 13:15.
The second quarter was a messy affair and both teams were careless with the ball. Dexia used it to their advantage though and inspired by Jean-Marc Jaumin and Bernd Volcic, went on an 8-0 run which tied up the game at 28 going into the half.
Peristeri turned up their defense a notch in the 3rd quarter and it worked in their favour. Dexia were forced into numerous turnovers which the Greeks converted into points. 11 consecutive points from Peristeri saw them go into the last quarter with a 14-point lead.
Spurred on by the home fans, Dexia did not give up and a 10-0 run in the closing minutes cut Peristeri's lead to 4-points. It was too little too late, though, and Peristeri held their nerves to close out the game 71:66 victors.
Larry Stewart was the top points man for Peristeri with 16. Ukranian center Grygorii Khizhniak added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
