Lotos VBW Clima defeated Lavezzini Basket Parma 90:78 (21:18, 22:21, 24:15, 23:24) in the first Euroelague game in Gdynia this season.

After Margo Dydek (16 points/4 rebounds) made two free throws to give Gdynia a 2-0 lead Lavezzini Basket Parma never led throughout the entire game.

In the fourth quarter Lotos VBW Clima gained a 14-point lead and the game seemed to be over for the Italian team.

But the Italians came back, led by ex Gdynia player Gordana Grubin (20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists). With a 10-0 run late in the fourth quarter they managed to cut the deficit to 2 points with less than 3 minutes remaining.

Gdynia answered with a few steals by Elaine Powell, Ekaterina Sytniak and Agnieszka Bibrzycka (25 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals), which gave them easy points to close the game.

"Everything was under control as long as we played as a team. In the fourth quarter my players were a little bit too hot. The Italian team cut their deficit to two points in the end, but we showed we can play well in the important moments of a game."
