Reigning EuroLeague Women champions UMMC Ekaterinburg are currently the hottest team in the competition, having recorded 7 consecutive wins. Their victims tonight were visiting club USK Blex Praha, who suffered a 76:46 defeat at the hands of the Russian champions.

Before the game started, representatives of the Czech Council General in Ekaterinburg were invited onto the floor to wish everybody good luck and a fair game. UMMC did not seem to take much heed of the plea, however, as they raced away to a 13:3 lead.
UMMC’s early dominance would never be challenged by Praha and by the end of the first quarter, the home team led 25:13.
One of UMMC’s many strengths is the team’s ability to stay calm and collected, and that is exactly what they did for the rest of the game. While Praha were confused by the onslaught, UMMC quietly put together a very solid game, hitting 53% of their shots and outrebounding their opponents 47-26.
While Praha fought valiantly, they were powerless to stop the Russians, who continually increased the lead, winning by an eventual margin of 30 points.
Yolanda Griffith and Tamecka Dixon were UMMC’s top contributors, scoring 17 points apiece (to which Griffith added 12 rebounds).
Serb and Montenegrin center Ivana Matovic led Praha with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
