Coach Natalja Hejkova pushes Sopron to an easy victory over Chieti
|

|
Sopron were forced to play without guard Szlimák Hajnalka who injured her ankle in practice and it seemed to effect the home team at the start.
The home team made a few early defensive mistakes and Chieti took an 8:7 lead. It would actually be the only lead of the entire game for the Italian side.
Led by point guard Iveta Bielikova, who controlled the game with her scoring and passing, Sopron surged ahead. Again, though, simple defensive errors allowed the Italians to stay in the game.
In the second quarter Sopron increased their perimeter defensive intensity, leading to several fast break buckets. They led 43:30 at the half.
Chieti changed tactics in the third quarter, switching to a zone defense and running a full court press in an attempt to slow the pace of the game. It made little impression on Sopron, who managed to further increase their lead and render the game over at the end of the third quarter, 58:42.
Both sides used their younger players on the floor in the 4th quarter and Sopron will no doubt have been encouraged by 16 year old Honti Kata, who hit both of her shots (4 points), and dished an asisst in 8 minutes of action.
Anna Vajda and Oxana Zakalyuzhnaya led Sopron with 13 points apiece.
Bridget Pettis had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Chieti |
