		Dalma Ivanyi had 8 rebounds and 6 assists for Hungary

Victory was bittersweet for Hungary on Wednesday against Slovakia because another outstanding defensive effort wasn't good enough to propel Laszlo Ratgeber's side into the quarter-finals.

Slovakia had already assured themselves of a place in the final eight and Belgium pipped Hungary to the fourth spot in Group B with a triumph over the Ukraine earlier on Wednesday.

Hungary have certainly left their mark on this tournament as one of the best defensive sides in the competition.

They limited Slovakia to just five first-quarter points to get their game off on the right foot.

Hungary have been a poor shooting side but they broke with tradition by making 18 of 37 shots from two-point range, and six off 19 from behind the three-point arc.

Edid Eordogh led the way with 14 points while Eva Seres added 12.

But it is Slovakia, who were paced by Andrea Belanska's game-high 17 points, who are still in medal contention.
