|Johanne Gomis was integral in helping Villeneuve DAscq edge closer to the EuroCup Women Semi Finals|
A scorching last quarter has put Villeneuve d'Ascq within touching distance of the EuroCup Women Semi Finals after they took a 76-63 win at Adana Botas.
With the game hanging firmly in the balance heading into the last frame of their Quarter Final first leg, the French side found another gear and outscored the hosts 20-8 to head back home on a high.
With Adana Botas struggling from downtown, Villeneuve capitalised on foul trouble and were aggressive offensively, which allowed them to make 17 foul shots and that proved priceless in a roller-coaster encounter.
Spurred on by Johanne Gomis who eventually claimed a game-high 21 points, they made their move late, having started the game brightly - only for Botas to then wrestle the initiative away by half-time and lead 39-37.
With veteran Belgian legend Ann Wauters playing a nice cameo and adding 12 smart points, the away team were able to gain the upper hand ahead of the second leg next week with their fourth quarter surge.
Theresa Plaisance did her best to inspire Botas with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, but the Turkish team have plenty to do if they now want to reach the last four of the tournament.
