Slovenia Edge Hosts For 11th Place

U18 Women

Slovenia made a spectacular comeback to edge Romania, 50-47, and claim 11th place at the Global Vision U18 European Championship Women.

Romania had their ups and downs throughout the first 36 minutes, but they still managed to maintain the lead until the final minutes of the game.

But this was as far as the hosts, who used a short rotation of only seven players, would go.

The Slovenians took the first lead of the game with only 3:52 left until the final buzzer, 43-42, behind a three-pointer by Ursa Svetic, and managed to stay in front for the rest of the way.

Romania did not score in the final two minutes of the game and they had three turnovers during that span.

Rebeka Abramovic proved just too much to handle for the opponents, finishing the game with 17 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

She was not the only Slovenian player to post a double-double, as Ziva Macura added 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Sonia Ursu of Romania had another great game, with 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals but she also committed two crucial turnovers in the final minute of the game.
