Russia Pile On Misery For Relegated Lithuania

14 August 2011

U18 Women

Russia finished the Global Vision U18 European Championship Women with a win against Lithuania, 57-52, that gave them the 13th place at this tournament, far from what their expectations were at the beginning.

But, after all, they avoided relegation and they can now build for the future.

Lithuania fought hard to at least exit Division A on good last impression, but the Russians finished the game with a 10-3 run to increase even further their impressive winning streak in the Classification Round and board the plane home on a high note.

Maryia Davydova had 15 points, five rebounds and three assists and she got plenty of help on offense from Alina Zamaraeva and Olesya Sedletskaya, who finished the game with 11 points each.

Ieva Preskienyte was again the leader for the Lithuanians with 11 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.
