24 Seconds with France's Endene Miyem

29.04.2008

One reason why new France coach Pierre Vincent is so excited ahead of this year's EuroBasket Women qualifying games is because of the emerging talent in the country.

And one player who could be a big part of the Les Bleues for many years to come is Endene Miyem, a power forward on Vincent's Bourges team that reached the EuroLeague Women Final Four in Brno.

Miyem, who doesn't turn 20 until May 15, wasn't able to celebrate a title in the Czech Republic but she did get a chance to watch her favourite player help fire Spartak Moscow Region to a second consecutive European crown.

What player is that, you ask? Well, check out FIBA Europe's `24 Seconds With Endene Miyem' and you'll find out.

FIBA Europe: How old were you when you started playing basketball?

Endene Miyem: I was seven and my father led me to the sport.

FIBA Europe: Who was your favourite player when you were growing up?

Endene Miyem: (smiling) Of course, Tina Thompson.

FIBA Europe: Now that you have played in the EuroLeague Women for a couple of years, have you had a chance to play against her?

Endene Miyem: No, I wanted to in Brno but we lost (to Gambrinus in the semi-final).

FIBA Europe: Have you ever met Tina before?

Endene Miyem: Yes, I met her but I was so happy that I couldn't talk to her. I wanted to tell her, `You are so good, and I want to play like you'.

FIBA Europe: What do you hope to achieve as a basketball player?

Endene Miyem: I hope to play like Tina Thompson. I want to be a great player in France, to help my club and country reach the top positions.

FIBA Europe: Let's lighten things up, Endene. What's the first thing that comes into your mind when you wake up each day?

Endene Miyem: (laughing) Oh my God, it's Eleven O'clock.

FIBA Europe: If you had your choice of a meal, what would you choose?

Endene Miyem: (laughing) KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) and a coke.

FIBA Europe: What is your favorite kind of music?

Endene Miyem: R&B, and Caribbean music.

FIBA Europe: If you were not a professional basketball player, what is it that you would like to do for a living?

Endene Miyem: I want to be a doctor.

FIBA Europe: If you had all the money in the world, what kind of car would you like to own and drive?

Endene Miyem: A Hummer.
