Alena Novikava

Career: RUOR-Belarussian Junior NT (Belarus-Div. 1, 2002-04), RUOR-Belarussian Junior NT (Baltic League, 2003-05), RCOR-Gorizont Minsk (Belarus-Div. 1, 2004-05), Nadezhda Orenburg (Russia-Superleague, 2005-08), Berezina Borisov (Belarus- Premier League, 2008-09)

Three or four years ago Alena Novikava was considered Belarus' point guard for the future. Now it's obvious that her early departure to the Russian Superleague hurt her development. Novikava struggled through numerous injuries and finally had to return to the Belarusian Premier League. Though clearly a special talent, Alena has never been a classic point guard. She's known for her handling skills, killer crossover move and no-look passes, but at the same time Novikava never restrains herself from hoisting long-range jumpers and making wild penetration moves. This season she played for the Berezina-RCOR Borisov club, finishing second in the Belarusian Premier League and averaging 6.3 points and 3.2 assists per game in the Baltic Women's Basketball League.
