Gambrinus Sika Brno's EuroLeague Women challenge has been dealt a blow after Czech Republic centre Petra Kulichova was ruled out for up to eight weeks with an elbow injury.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury as Gambrinus beat Fenerbahce SK 70-66 in Istanbul on Tuesday to record their second win of the tournament after suffering a narrow 87-86 defeat to UMMC Ekaterinburg in their opening game.
"We don't know how long Petra will be sidelined. She has injured her elbow," said Brno team doctor Libor Pasa.
"The healing of this injury is very varied - she can be in order in three weeks but it is possible it could take eight weeks as well."
Brno coach Jan Bobrovsky added: "We will miss Petra Kulichova a lot. There are not many high quality players in our team and it will be worse without Petra.
"We could see it in the second half in Istanbul when our opponents reduced our big advantage.
"We have three centers - (Ivana) Vecerova, (Alena) Kovacova and (Sofia) Young now and it is possible our forward (Eva) Viteckova can play there in the next few games." |
