Last summer Gabriela Kubatova became the starter at the point guard position as Pokey Chatman became the coach of the Slovakian national team. For her first international campaign the 25-year-old was sixth in passing in the qualifying campaign, averaging 3.6 assists per game. Since January 2008, Kubatova has played for Inpek UKF Nitra in her homeland. She is ranked second in passing in the Slovakian Extraliga, averaging 3.9 assists per game. This season she scored 10.5 points per game. But she has shown shooting weaknesses as she has connected on only 30% of her shots.
