Anastasia Fomina

Career: Baltiyskaia Zvezda Saint-Petersburg (Russia-Superleague, 1999-2000), Volna Saint-Petersburg (Russia-Superleague, 2000-03), Baltiyskaia Zvezda Saint-Petersburg (Russia-Superleague, 2003-06), Dynamo Kursk (Russia-Superleague, 2006-07)

Three years ago Anastasia Fomina was an inexperienced point guard with a spot on the end of the bench for 2004 FIBA EuroCup winner Baltiyskaia Zvezda. But only a year later, after financial crisis nearly derailed the St. Petersburg club which was weak and exhausted after almost all of the leaders left, she was thrown into the Euroleague fire as a starter. Fomina’s team did not win a single game that year but the St. Petersburg native proved her true potential. Still a bit turnover-prone, Fomina also needs to improve her shooting.  Nevertheless, she is an effective defensive player with good court vision.
