|Sweden's Amanda Zahui dominated the boards, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks|
Even though they had secured top spot in Group A of the Preliminary Round, Sweden wanted to stay perfect and they succeeded with a comfortable win against Russia, 82-58.
In the first half the Russians put in an effort to prove that their game was good enough to play in the Qualification Round and not to avoid relegation.
They used a good second quarter to lead at half-time by one point, 35-34.
But for sure the Russian players will want to forget their performance in the third quarter.
Ellen Nystrom and Nathalie Fontaine combined for 16 points from Sweden's 29 in the period and made the Russian defense look like Swiss cheese.
On the other side of the court, the Swedish team locked the basket and allowed their opponents only six points, on 2-for-15 shooting.
The fourth quarter was played only for the joy of the ecstatic Swedish fans in the "Antonio Alexe Arena" of Oradea.
Amanda Zahui finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks, Nystrom and Fontaine added a combined 23 points and Helena Kurt scored 12 of her own with a perfect shooting from outside, 3 for 3.
Polina Sych scored 11 points for Russia in another disappointing performance by the team who finished fifth in last year's edition.
