Mandache Sends 'Good Luck' Message To Hosts

28 July 2010

Former Romania U18 coach Gheorghe Mandache has sent the team a public good luck message ahead of the U18 European Championship for Women Division B.

Romania, who are hosting this year's tournament in Timisoara, will open play on Thursday when they face Switzerland.

Since handing over control of the team in April, Mandache has kept a close eye on the team's development and wanted to wish them all the best.

"Before this milestone in your careers, I want to remind you all that together you form a powerful team, a team that can beat anyone in Europe!" Mandache said in the message, issued via the Romanian Basketball Federation's website.

"Your strength lies in the strength of the group and, if you go through hard times - I hope there won't be many - remember than together you can overcome any obstacle.

"Be united and stay strong. You have your chance. Make Romania proud of you. Good luck!"

Romania are in Group A and, in addition to Switzerland, will take on Portugal, Greece, and Luxembourg.
