Turkey Sweat Out Win Over Poland

Turkey sweat out a 68-64 victory over Poland in the U18 European Championship Women 2010, Slovakia to keep their chance of reaching the Quarter-Finals.

The eventual winners kept an early lead in the game, but Poland came back and hanged on till the last seconds when Emel Güler sealed victory for Turkey.

Özge Kavurmacioglu scored 20 points with a 87.5 field goal shooting percentage and grabbed six rebounds.

Paulina Kuras was Poland's top scored with 15 points while Agata Szczepanik added 11 rebounds.

Kavurmacioglu's three-pointer capped a 12-0 run and gave Turkey a double digit lead (18-7) in the final minute of the first quarter. She was the go-to-girl for Turkey in the first half which her team closed leading 37-27.

Poland reduced the deficit to two points in the third quarter and tied the score twice in the final ten minutes, but Turkey always managed to keep their nose ahead and Güler secured the result for Turkey with a jumper 25 seconds before the end.
