Lithuania maintained their perfect record at the Umcor U18 European Championship on day two with a victory over Belgium.
Lithuania dominated most of the contest, but nearly gave away victory with a poor fourth quarter performance.
A 9-0 opening salvo by the Lithuanians characterised a game in which they never give up the lead.
However, despite trailing by as many as 19 points, Belgium never game up.
The score was 48-67 with 6:38 to go in the game and victory looked way out of reach for Belgium. Despite the seemingly lost situation, Belgium reeled off 15 straight points to narrow Lithuania's lead to four points with one minute remaining.
Belgium's had a great chance to reduce the gap even further through a Vreny Van Driel three-point attempt. But her shot was off the mark and although Candice Michel grabbed the rebound, she could not get the put-back to fall.
Vitalije Vasciunaite countered with two free throws and Lithuania were able to breathe a huge sigh of relief after nearly blowing the game.
