Having enjoyed a stellar youth career playing in a Russia vest, including winning gold and being crowned MVP at the U20 European Championship Women in 2008, Natalia Vieru stepped out for the first time with the senior team at a major tournament last summer. While she only managed limited court time coming off the bench at the FIBA World Championship Women, it was further experience for the 21-year-old who has already been to several EuroLeague Women Final Fours with her club side Spartak M.R. Vidnoje. While she has not yet imposed herself fully at the elite level, Vieru has lots of time to continue to show off her impressive skill set. She is a powerful player in the paint and can be difficult for opponents to match up with. Due to turn 22-years-old, it will be interesting to see how Vieru now evolves for both club and country as she looks to become a regular with the National Team.
