Jelena Dubljevic

Career: Buducnost Podgorica (Montenegro-Superleague, 2002-06), Ros Casares (Spain-LF, 2006)
Rivas Ecopolis (Spain-LF, 2006-10), Tarbes Gespe Bigorre (France-LFB, 2010-11)

Jelena Dubljevic has had a great couple of years in EuroLeague Women and established herself as one of the most respected European frontcourt players around. Having been in the forefront for the super rookie season by Madrid-based Rivas Ecopolis in 2009/10, she made the switch to Tarbes and continued to produce the goods last season. Of course that is hardly surprising since Dubljevic was just 15-years-old when she first stepped onto the floor in EuroLeague Women, way back in November of 2002 for Buducnost. During her teens she turned out for both Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro, not only in the various youth European Championships but also during EuroBasket Women 2007 Qualifying when she averaged 30 minutes per game and impressed with her steal count and passing ability. Then of course independence arrived and she was able to become the star of her own home nation. While she has only just turned 24, Dubljevic has vast amounts of experience and seems to have been around forever. Montenegro will look to her to provide the bulk of the scoring in the paint since she is a terrific finisher around the basket, a good free-throw shooter and will pull down plenty of boards. She will play a lot of minutes and form formidable partnerships with the likes of Iva Perovanovic and Milka Bjelica inside. She could be one of the major successes of EuroBasket Women 2011.
