Liene Jansone

Career: TTT Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 1997-99), Siena (USA-NCAA, 2000-04), Hapoel Haifa (Israel-D1, 2004-05), Ensimo Lugo (Spain-LFB, 2005-06), Perfumerias Avenida (Spain-LFB, 2006-07)

With both parents being basketball coaches, it’s not surprising that Jansone has made a career in the sport. After some good performances with youth level, Jansone went to the US and became one of the leaders of the Siena College team. Quick and aggressive under the basket, she can play both the center and power forward positions and after returning to Europe the Riga native has become one of the main players for the National Team. Her debut at EuroBasket Women 2005 was impressive and during the final tournament Jansone moved from back-up center to a member of the starting five. Her last two seasons have been spent in Spain where she has been solid but not spectacular though the best may still lie ahead for the 26-year-old.
