Party Time In Limassol

A festive atmosphere is the norm in Limassol, and that was certainly the case on Tuesday night at the EuroCup All Star Game.

The Rest of the World beat Europe 118-116, but the name of the game was entertainment and from start to finish, organizers put on a non-stop show of modern rock, acrobatics, dancing and dunking.

Proteas EKA AEL youngster Vasiliy Zavororuev edged Dexia Mons-Hainaut's James Cantamessa in a thrilling three-point shootout that was staged during the break between the first and second quarters.

Zavororuev had a nightmare start, missing with every ball in his first rack off the preliminary round, but drilled 10 straight after to get on track and went on to beat James Cantamessa in the final.

"This is a great atmosphere for basketball," said Milutin Aleksic of Europe and Proteas EKA AEL. "It will be a great EuroCup Final Four here and it's good for us that we are hosting the event."

Indeed, Proteas AEL are hosting the Final Four and will take on Dexia Mons-Hainaut in one game while Barons Riga will face Tartu Rock in the other.

Nine of the players taking part in the EuroCup Final Four played in the All Star Game.
