Viktor Khryapa has endured a torrid time in recent years due to some serious injury problems which ruled him out of EuroBasket 2009 and the FIBA World Championship in Turkey last summer. In addition to struggling at National Team level, his injuries have also caused him to miss long periods for CSKA Moscow. Taking into account he was also carrying an injury at the Olympics in 2008 it is four years since he was firing on all cylinders and his efforts at EuroBasket 2007 in winning gold showcased just how influential he can be for Russia. Defensively he is a master while on offence, he can't be ignored or undervalued by opponents. Khryapa is now a veteran as he approaches a decade with the National Team and his all-round skill-set is hugely impressive. As well as his defence, watch out for his rebounding and passing ability too. |
