Tomás Satoransky will be a major inlfuence for the Czech Republic at EuroBasket 2013

Czech national team coach Pavel Budinsky has announced a squad of 14 players for the upcoming EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia.

To the relief of Czech basketball fans the list includes the NBA star Jan Vesely who is with the Washington Wizards and Tomas Satoransky who has been drafted by the same franchise, as well as veterans Jiri Welsch and Lubos Barton.

Vesely and center Pavel Houska are the only two additions to the team which won the right to play at EuroBasket following the Qualification Round last summer.

From the 14 players in Budinsky's list half ply their trade outside the confines of the Czech league.

Budinsky, has also publicised the names of 10 stand-by players.

"We tried to pick the best possible squad," said the play-caller.

"An additional advantage is most of them are returning players from last summer and that will help us find ourselves really quickly."

The Czech team for EuroBasket 2013:
Guards: Tomáš Satoranský (Sevilla), Jiří Welsch (Nymburk), Michal Čarnecký (Pardubice), Jakub Kudláček (Cantú).

Forwards: Vojtěch Hruban (Nymburk), Pavel Pumprla (Obradoiro), David Jelínek (Laboral Kutxa), Luboš Bartoň (Braunschweig), Jan Veselý (Washington Wizzards).

Centers: Ondřej Balvín (Sevilla), Petr Benda (Nymburk), Pavel Houška (Nymburk), Jakub Houška (Děčín), Kamil Švrdlík (Prostějov).

Stand-by: Jaromír Bohačík (Prostějov), Adam Číž (Ostrava), Martin Gniadek (Ostrava), Tomáš Hampl (Andorra), Ondřej Kohout (Prostějov), Pavel Slezák (Prostějov), Tomáš Pomikálek (Nymburk), Ondřej Starosta (Navarra), Luboš Stria (Děčín), Jakub Šiřina (Opava).
