There was nothing between the teams in a keenly contested first quarter, only a buzzer beating triple by Pero Antic the difference as he put the home side into a 21-19 lead.
By midway through the second quarter, both teams were struggling at the offensive end and the game was still waiting for a decisive run at 25-25.
It belatedly arrived when FYR of Macedonia scored seven straight points and that helped them into a 35-29 lead as the teams left the court to head to the locker rooms.
When the teams returned to the floor, the hosts continued where they left off and increased their advantage to eleven at 46-35.
After a strong start to the final period by FYR of Macedonia, Ukraine wilted and never threatened to launch any kind of serious fight back.
Veteran center Todor Gechevski contributed 13 points and seven rebounds while Denys Lukashov had 10 points and six rebounds for Ukraine in an otherwise forgettable night's work for the away team.
"Fist, I want to send a message to our fans, to come to see our third game in Skopje, and at the same time to give us more energy to play, from the first to the last minute of the game. We started too nervous, because everybody expected our team to win with a huge points difference. We missed too many shots, a lot of free throws. But with our very good defense we got a very important win before traveling to Hungary"
Ukraine player Denys Lukashov:
"I'm ashamed of our very bad game, for the second time against this team. We turned over too many balls this night. You have very 'hot'atmosphere here in Skopje with 7,000 spectators, and it is always very difficult to play good in such situations. I would like to play [under] the same [conditions] in Ukraine. Congratulations to the home team who beat us two times in this round. We couldn't find the way to stop [Bo] McCalebb and [Pero] Antic, the top players of the home side."
