Slovak Republic Surge Past Great Britain

Four players scored in double figures as the Slovak Republic defeated Great Britain 73-62 in the teams' opening game of the EuroBasket Division B Qualifying Round.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Slovak Republic was ahead by two points.

But Peter Valo's men surged ahead thanks to a fourth quarter in which they outscored Great Britain 28-19.

Despite missing eight free-throws, David Toya led the way for the Slovak Republic with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

Anton Gavel added 16 for the winners, while Stefan Svitek tallied 15 and Daniel Novak 12.

Yorick Williams was the lone player in double-digits for Great Britain with 10 points.

The game was marred by fouls - three players from Great Britain and two from the Slovak Republic fouled out.

Great Britain resume their qualifying campaign when they host the Netherlands next Saturday.

The Slovak Republic host Albania, also next Saturday.
