Sani Becirovic

Career: KK Bistrica (Slovenia-Second Division, 1995-96), Maribor Ovni junior team (Slovenia, 1996-97), Pivovarna Lasko (Slovenia, 1997-99), Union Olimpija (Slovenia, 1999-2001), Kinder Bologna (Italy-Lega, 2001-03), Krka Novo Mesto (Slovenia, 2003-04), Metis Varese (Italy-Lega, 2004-05), Climamio Bologna (Italy-Lega, 2005-...). Drafted in the second round (#46) of the 2003 NBA draft, by the Denver Nuggets.

Becirovic's career was left for dead in 2002 after a knee injury which doctors diagnosed as career ending. Becirovic appears to have been resurrected by corrective surgery on both knees. He was born with a genetic disorder which affected his knees. A legend in European basketball for his accomplishments in junior competitions – he was voted MVP of the 1998 European Junior Championships – Sani was drafted by the Nuggets based on pure potential. Joined the senior national team as early as 1998… He sat out the whole 2002-03 season and, from there, he gradually recovered to become a very good point guard with above average statistics. Sani is a natural leader who can play both guard positions. He is a terrific shooter and one-on-one player, good ball handler, passer and good in the clutch. Son of a professional basketball coach in Slovenia, Memi Becirovic. He began playing in the Slovenian professional leagues at the age of 14.
