In the second Quarter-Final Germany beat France 81-77 and will meet Turkey in the Semi-Final on Saturday. Both teams will fight for the medals but have already reached another important goal. They are the first two qualifiers for the the World Championship to take place in Indianapolis next year.
First quarter ended with a small lead by France with little score production from both sides: 17-12. In the second quarter Germany took some good shots but France protected the lead and the first half ended 41-35. France's 10 players managed scoring. Germany could only finish with one assist.
In the 3rd quarter, Germany's motion offense ended with Nowitzki's scrorer style. 3:74 remaining Germany took the first lead in the game 48-47. The strong German frontline and a good defense and rebounding was the key of the game in this period which resulted in a 12 point lead for Germany after two consecutive fast-breaks.
France tried a half court zone and prevented Nowitzki getting the ball. Two minutes before the final buzzer France hit a couple of long range shots with Foirest and tied the game 77-77 with 0:44 remaining. In the following play Nowitzki forced the paint and scored with a bonus foult.
