|Christophe Beghin and his teammates gave their country something to celebrate as they finished an incredible summer with a berth at EuroBasket 2011|
Belgium booked their ticket to the EuroBasket finals as Group C winners with a 70-67 victory over Poland.
Belgium survived a tense fourth quarter as Poland gave everything in a bid to qualify for next summer's edition of the tournament they hosted last year.
And Poland were looking good when Thomas Kelati's three-pointer gave them a lead with 3:40 to go and they moved four points clear on Marcin Gortat's jump-shot 3:07 from time.
But Christophe Beghin cut the gap to two and Beye Tabu-Eboma's lay-up with 1:51 left tied the scores.
Kelati missed a three for Poland but Beghin made no mistake at the other end to make it 70-67 with 1:12 left.
Dardan Berisha missed a jump-shot for Poland but they stayed alive as both Axel Hervelle and Tabu-Eboma were off target for Belgium.
But Poland could not work a three-point opening and after Lukasz Koszarek missed with a lay-up 12 seconds from time their challenge ended.
Beghin led Belgium with 16 points, while Tabu-Eboma had 14 and Hervelle and Thomas van den Spiegel added 10 each.
Kelati finished with 20 for Poland while Gortat had 18 and 11 rebounds.
The result will come as great news for Georgia, who earlier beat Bulgaria but had to wait on this result before knowing their own fate in the tight group.
However, Poland drop to fourth place in the group behind Bulgaria.
