Daniela Peteva put in a valuable 19-point performance for Bulgaria on Sunday
Bulgaria have become the fourth and final team to book their place in the EuroBasket Women 1st Qualification Round semi-finals, with a 73-65 victory over Switzerland on Sunday.
A loss to Bulgaria would have all three teams in Group B sporting a one-win, one-loss record - but it was an outcome that never looked likely to eventuate as the Bulgarians claimed the momentum early to build a healthy lead by the half which turned out to be too big for the Swiss to overcome.
It was inside the paint where Bulgaria were inflicting the most damage as Milena Tomova and Daniela Peteva wreaked havoc, combining for 46 points, the former responsible for 27 of those and the latter 19.
Leading by 17 points at half-time following on an 18-9 second quarter, Bulgaria could be forgiven for becoming slightly complacent in the second half as Switzerland fought hard to be back within two shots of tying the game with 14 seconds to play.
However, disaster was averted for the Bulgarians with Peteva hitting a late pair from the charity stripe to confirm the win.
For the Swiss it was Caroline Turin topping the scoring with 26 points whilst Marielle Giroud had a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.
