Belgium have been excited about the return of Ann Wauters and she showed everybody why on Thursday night as she led them to victory over Italy in their opening EuroBasket Women qualifier.
The veteran star has returned to international action this summer along with Kathy Wambe and the both played a big role as Belgium squeezed out Italy in a tight contest.
Wauters finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead Belgium, while Wambe came up with 13 points and nine assists.
Anne-Sophie Strubbs and Sara Leemans each had 17 points.
And all of those points were needed in a tight contest.
The game was tied 71-71 with 3:50 to go after Kathrin Ress made a lay-up for Italy.
Laurence van Malderen nailed a three-pointer for Belgium and Wauters then padded the lead with a jump-shot from Wambe's feed.
Wambe then split a pair of free throws to make it 77-71 with 27 seconds to go, but Chiara Pastore quickly made a lay-up for Italy.
Pastore then fouled Leemans to preserve time, with the Belgian guard splitting her free throws to make it 78-73.
Giorgia Sottana grabbed the rebound from the missed second shot, but Raffaella Masciadri came up empty with a three-point effort and Italy were out of time.
Sottana led Italy with 21 points while Pastore had 11 and Masciadri 10.
Italy, who lost their opening game 76-69 to Croatia, are missing injured guard Laura Macchi.
